There are many activities that are considered dangerous, but 00004000 none are probably as dangerous as something that you engage in every day. One of the most dangerous things that a person can do is get behind the wheel of a car. Driving is actually one of the most dangerous things that people do. There are hundreds of thousands of accidents and wrecks every year that leave people seriously injured or disfigured. Because of the dangers and high frequency of these accidents, most states have made car insurance mandatory.
Since car insurance is required, it will be necessary for you to get it before you drive or you may get a ticket if you are pulled over. These tickets are usually very expensive, so you will want to make sure you have coverage before you get behind the wheel of a vehicle. As there are a variety of different options that are available, it will be important for you to do some research on the policies that are out there.
The most basic type of car insurance that you can buy is liability only. Liability only insurance is the most inexpensive type of insurance that you can purchase because it has the most limited coverage. Liability only car insurance covers only the damage that is done to the other vehicle and the people that were involved in the accident. These plans are less expensive because they do not cover the vehicle of the driver. These plans are good but may end up costing you more money in the long run if you are in an accident with the money that you will have to use to repair your vehicle or to get a new one.

What are types of auto insurance discounts?

QUESTION:
Don't all types of auto insurance have bodily injury coverage?
I mean, does it matter if it's full coverage, no medical coverage, liability, or what not? Isn't an auto insurance suppose to cover any bodily injury no matter what party?-
ANSWER:
Insurance is something you want to be careful about when buying. All states have different requirements for what must be covered. With that being sad, not all policies have to have bodily injury for everyone involved. Also, state minimums are very low. MA's requirement is 5k per incident. Put 4 people in a serious car crash and 5k doesn't cover much.

QUESTION:
to which of the six types of auto insurance coverge does no-fault insurance apply?-
ANSWER:
Well, the answer to this is going to vary by state!! But in general, it's collision, comprehensive, towing, rental, glass (in some states), medical payments, personal injury protection, lost wages. In other words, first party benefits type coverages, and physical damages type coverages.Again, not all states have ALL these coverages.
And some will allow subrogation to an at fault party for any payments under these coverages. It does vary wildly by state.

QUESTION:
what are six basic types of auto insurance coverage?-
ANSWER:
Bodily injury liability -- covers injuries to other people.Medical payments, or personal injury protection (PIP) coverage -- covers injuries to yourself and your passengers. Sometimes lost wages and funeral costs also are paid by this type of auto insurance coverage.
Property damage liability -- covers damage to other people’s property.
Collision -- covers damage to your car from hitting another car or an inanimate object, or as a result rolling over. It even covers damage to your car from potholes.
Comprehensive -- the catch-all auto insurance coverage for damage from hailstones, earthquakes, vandalism, theft or anything other than what’s covered under collision coverage.
Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage -- reimburses you if the other driver doesn’t have auto insurance, or doesn’t have enough to cover your expenses.

QUESTION:
is there a special type of auto insurance for college students whom only drive while at home on vacation?
I need auto insurance for when im home and i do not want to pay for the whole year because i only drive during the summer when i am at home the rest of the year im away at school. thanks in advance.-
ANSWER:
I agree with the other person regarding some insurance companies can stop and start your insurance on demand.I think I did this back when I was in college (that was a long time ago!). Basically I had to call up the insurance company and tell them when I needed coverage and when I needed to stop it again.
Call your agent. Just bear in mind if you go home for Christmas, you won't have insurance when you're home unless you "turn it back on".
Playing devil's advocate, turning on and off an insurance policy may do wacky things with discounts on insurance that is based on being a "loyal customer" for "X" number of years. My auto insurance is gets a 5% discount for being with the company for continuously for years. You'll need to ask if the start/stop thing will impact that.

QUESTION:
What are the associated costs of adding different types of coverage to auto insurance?-
ANSWER:
The costs are different depending on what risk classification you are, the historical loss experience of the area where you live, and the type of vehicle you drive. However, the most costly endorsements tend to be Collision and Comprehensive. If your state offers Optional Bodily Injury to Others, it is generally considered a good idea in the industry to increase those limits without concern for the cost.

QUESTION:
I am leaving for Mexico, what type of auto insurance do I need and where can i get it?
going to mexico for my birthday. i have a 2004 toyota corola and my insurance provider won't cover me down there...any help would be great-
ANSWER:
Happy Birthday! Our Insurance agency is in California so we get this question frequently. Also, I visit my friend in Ensenada a few times a year. I drive to the last exit before the border. When you get off the freeway there is a Chevron Station. Next to it is an insurance kiosk. You will need your vehicle registration and driver's license. They will do a policy based on the Blue Book value of your car and the number of days you will be in Mexico. They take all major credit cards and the whole process takes 5 minutes. So far I have never had a claim, so I can't provide any info on that.Some of the other answers regarding personal defense may also be helpful.

QUESTION:
americans getting auto insurance in England?
Going to do a road rally in England, can Americans get some type of auto insurance on a car there or can they be put on someone's insurance to drive, I wll also be getting a International drivers license-
ANSWER:
I don't really understand the question fully - will you be renting a vehicle or using someone else's private vehicle?If you are renting a vehicle, you can pay by credit card. Many credit card companies offer vehicle insurance in their terms, so check with your company before you leave the States to come to Britain. Alternatively, many rental companies offer additional insurance when you hire the vehicle in the UK.
If you are using someone else's private vehicle, the insurance works very differently than in the States. Insurance is for individual drivers, not for the car. For example, I happen to be fully insured with full comp to drive my vehicle and any other vehicle in the UK. However, my sister-in-law is only insured to drive her own vehicle and not mine or anyone else's. Does that make sense? It depends on the individual cover for insurance on vehicles, or on corporate insurance for business drivers.
Many travel insurance schemes in the States offer car insurance as part of the premium. I would recommend purchasing travel insurance before you go on your trip to cover vehicle insurance, loss of baggage, medical insurance, etc. while you are abroad. You can visit http://www.travelguard.com for more information or contact a local travel agent near your home.
Enjoy your trip!

QUESTION:
Where could I check out what type of software auto insurance companies use?
I want to get a job at some auto insurance company and I have an interview coming up. They did ask if I knew how to use the software that they use. I don't know it, so I wanted to take a quick peek at it before my interview. Is that possible at all, as long as it is not an 'company only" software?-
ANSWER:
It is all "company only" (proprietary being the correct term) software. This stuff is expensive to build, so they keep it in-house. They also don't want their competitors gaining an advantage.

QUESTION:
The type of auto insurance that pays you?
if a tree falls on your car is called _____ coverage.
a. collision
b. liability
c. comprehensive-
ANSWER:
Comprehensive.This pays for falling objects, glass damage, animal collisions, theft, vandalism, flood. Damage that happens to your car that is not caused by a collision. Comprehensive is frequently known as "Other than Collision".
Now for the others:
Collision coverage - also pays for damage to your car. It pays for damage caused a collision. So, another car hitting your vehicle - collision. Other collision losses: you hit a pot hole, you hit a tree, a shopping cart hits your car.
Liability - pays for damage to other peoples property or injury. Liability pays for damage and injuries for which you are "legally liable". Since you can't be liable to yourself - liability does not pay for damage to your own vehicle or any injuries you receive as the driver of the car.

QUESTION:
What other types of insurance do you have besides homeowners, auto, health, and life?
I just bought a house and I'm about to get married. I'm thinking I should have some kind of insurance that could pay the mortgage should I ever become unable to work since I am the main breadwinner and there's no way my soon to be husband could pay all the bills himself. He could probably hack it without the mortgage payment, that would be the killer. Anyone in the same boat? What kind of insurance is the best for this, disability or mortgage insurance?-
ANSWER:
You may want to look into an Umbrella policy. This will cover you if you should get sued for more than the coverage you have on your auto or home insurance. See your agent for details.I recommend the you see a LOCAL agent and have him/her do a free Financial Need Analysis (FNA), or other Total Need program, to help YOU determine how much, and what type, or combination of, life insurance YOU need to reach YOUR own short and long-term goals and objectives. You will be given several options, YOU choose what best fits YOUR needs.
If an agent recommends an amount or a particular type of life insurance without doing the FNA, he/she is being unprofessional, and doing you a disservice. Remember, it's YOUR plan, and NOT the agent's.
The FNA will also help you dertermine if you need Disability Income Protection, to provide an income should you be hurt or sick and can't work. This protection could keep you from losing your house if you couldn't pay the payments while on disability.
The FNA will also help you determine if you need an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to help you save for retirement. (All that will be there when you get there is what you send on ahead.)
According to statistics, disability is a greater risk than death prior to the age of 65.
Best wishes.

QUESTION:
legal/auto/insurance type question?
Okay here is what happened. Around the first of July I came home to find a car parked illegally in a spot BETWEEN my parking spot and the next, while trying to inch into my spot ( i had no where else to park) I accidently nicked the back bumper of the vehicle. I got out and looked and saw a small scrape on it - no damage to mine. So I immediatly went to my neighbors door and told her "I'm sorry but whoever's car this is I just nicked the back bumper of it" she looked out and said, oh it's just my mom's, it's just a nick, don't worry about it." "are you SURE" I say and she says "yeah, forget about it".Well of course hindsight is always 20/20 and i see now several things I should have done immediatly but i didn't. So that brings us to now...
It's been well over a month and now I get a call from this lady wanting me to fix her car and claiming between 00-00 of damage. She said tonight on the phone when she called she will give me until Monday to make up my mind on what I'm going to do about it.
What would you do??
-
ANSWER:
First, call your insurance agent. Tell him what happened. Tell him everything.Second, tell the lady that she needs to get in touch with your insurance agent.
Third, don't worry about it. If it was truly a scratch, your insurance agent will be able to tell what's old damage and what's new damage. If it was a thousand dollar ding, he'll settle with the lady and pay her something to make her happy.
Fourth, DO NOT EVER walk away from a liability situation (one where you could have to pay someone for something) without a statement signed by them saying that they absolve you of all responsibility for damages.

QUESTION:
where to get help, typed an auto insurance card 3rd felony indictment was incorrect how to file hapeous corpus
i was not read indictment by lawyer or court i was in jail for 7 months before i recieved copy of indictment it had me falsifing motor vehicle inspection stickers , now probation revoked me again and wants me to do 5 months in jail intensive supervision drug classes , interlocker on vehicle, i dont know where to turn, i have a warrant for my arrest now because i did not do what they asked , i spent around ,000. so far district attorney in johnson co tx and all the lawyers and judges agree everything in my case was wrong but wont do anything to help me . i filed grievences on original attorney and state bar is investigating now and has been for mor than 3 months . the court transcripts were falsified as to proceedings the date i took plea bargin , i have all documentations of law enforcements wrong doing from lawyer to juges to district attorney all i need is help to bring justice to a corrupt judicial system in johnson co texas-
ANSWER:
The main trouble is the probation, since no matter if you get the other case dismissed, they can and will revoke that and even if they violated your rights during the new charge, it does not change thier rights to revoke.It sounds like you are merely filing charges for no other reason than to try and fight a system, instead of dealing with it. ( not unusual for people who have no real defense in their case)

QUESTION:
How to be auto insurance agent that sells more than 1 brand of auto insurance product?
I am interested in becoming an auto insurance agent. I want to do this part time, but I don't know how to get started? I can go to school to get the degree to sell insurance, but how do you get the connections to sell the various types of insurance ?-
ANSWER:
First, get training and get Licensed to sell insurance. There is a license exam you must pass in order to become a "Licensed Producer of Insurance".Second, well...you can either:
1) Apply for a job at an Insurance Agency. Either as a Producer (not likely with little experience), or as a CSR or office assistant.
2) Start your own Insurance Agency, which is a lot of work and money.
Being an Insurance Agent is not the easiest job, and there is a lot of liability involved. So I would suggest working for an Insurance Agency, learn the ins and outs...and decide where to go to from there.
If you decide to just sell it for yourself (out of your home or whatnot), you would still be basically starting your own business. Being an Independant Agent is not as easy as going to www.gieco.com for someone, and getting a commission.

QUESTION:
Is selling insurance haram in islam? any type of insurance auto/ life/ fire/ health?-
ANSWER:

Keep the Law under Grace.
The Moral Law(Ten Commandments) was given to Israel in trust for all mankind. It has never been abrogated but ia as unchangeable as its author, being based on our essential relationships to Him and our fellow men, and it is of perpetual and universal obligation(Matthew 5:17-20).
Exodus 20:8
"REMEMBER THE SABBATH(Saturday) DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY."
Jesus observed the Sabbath day of his own people. It was his custom to keep the Sabbath day Holy(Luke 4:16).
The Great Teacher never intimated that the Sabbath was a ceremonial ordinance or exclusive to the Jewish people. The Sabbath was given to all mankind.
It is evident that Christ did not change the Sabbath in the New Testament. Nor did he set the seventh-day of the week aside. Nowhere in the Bible is it stated that worship should be changed from Saturday to Sunday. The Bible declares that we should keep Holy the Sabbath Day.

QUESTION:
Insurance company denies claim, what to do?
If an insurance company denies a claim for whatever reason which you disagree, what you can do? I found that is frequent enough for many types of insurance - auto, home, medical.-
ANSWER:
Well, what you do, depends on the reason WHY they are denying the claim!If you read your policy, and you think they misread it, or are interpreting it incorrectly, you go to them first, and ask to appeal the denial. Then, you talk to your agent, and see if they can intervene. Then, you file a complaint with your state insurance commissioner. Hiring a public adjuster would come after that, and hiring a lawyer would be your last option.
If you read your policy, and discover that you don't actually have COVERAGE for the thing, you need to try to buy that coverage, so that NEXT time it happens, you're not stuck holding the bag AGAIN.

QUESTION:
Which is better full coverage or liability auto insurance?
I live in wisconsin where it is not mandatory to have car insurance. I'm 26 and been driving since i was 16 without insurance and i'm planning on getting a policy started soon and i have no idea as to which type of insurance to get. I drive a 1997 chevy lumina with around 222,000 miles on it. If i get full coverage will it cover my car damages as well as the other persons damages or will liability do that and will i be required to pay a deductible? I am thinking about getting up to 0,000 in coverage.-
ANSWER:
It depends on how much you want to spend. A 1997 Lumina with over 0K miles isn't really worth much. Look up the blue book value, although adjusters don't really use blue book to determine the value of a vehicle. If you can afford to replace that vehicle without insurance coverage then just get liability. Liability covers injuries or property damage that you cause to another party. Liability should always be your main concern. If you have a newer vehicle then I would suggest getting "full coverage" which includes comprehensive and collision. Comprehensive covers theft, vandalism, hail, fire, etc. Collision covers you colliding with something other than a bird or animal, also it covers your vehicle if your vehicle is hit by a hit and run driver. If you elect to get full coverage and you file a claim under your insurance policy to repair your vehicle then yes, you will be responsible for paying your deductible

QUESTION:
How do I get an insurance rider with no homeowner's insurance?
I do not own a home and am hoping to host a wedding reception at a local public library. They will not rent to me unless I have insurance coverage under homeowner's. Well, I don't own a home so I do not have homeowner's insurance. The only type of insurance I have is auto insurance. Is there a way I can still get the type of insurance I need? How much will it cost?-
ANSWER:
You can not get any rider on your auto policy to cover this. Auto policies are for automobile exposures.Go and speak to your auto insurance agent. See if they sell some type of policy that you can purchase to cover this event. If your company does not sell something that would apply, your agent may be able to suggest another company you could talk to.

QUESTION:
I often drive a friend's car. What companies offer "Non-car owner" auto insurance?
Everywhere i look online just offer "get a quote" then you have to enter a type of car. I don't own a car but I need insurance to take my driver's test in North Carolina. I couldn't find this type of insurance offered on any websites.-
ANSWER:
You are looking for a nonowner policy. This however, will NOT cover you for a vehicle you drive on a regular basis (your friend's vehicle you drive "often"). Insurance follows vehicles, not drivers so any vehicle that is insured (& the ID card & registration are in the glove compartment) will be fine to take the driving test with. If you are taking it in your friend's car, be sure he or she is with you when you go. If you will be a regular driver of the car (Progressive says if you drive it more than 12 times per year), you will need to be added as a driver to that policy, even if you are not in the same household.

This is a multi-class program where an abstract class implements a class and is extended by three sub-classes.
the instructions are:

Add Constructor that calls the super class constructor and initializes VIN
Use constructors in each of the classes with appropriate arguments.

I believe it has a lot to do with the variable declarations in the Insurance class, but it's difficult to follow the logic that instructor requires using variable names the way he does.
My output right now is close and has the same error no matter which type of insurance I choose:
What type of insurance do you wish?
Enter 1 for Health
2 for Life
3 for Auto
2
Life
Policy number is 0
Monthly Premium is .00
Annual Premium is 1,200.00
Here is the class that "uses" the others. (the class that is ran)
package useInsurnace;
import java.util.*;
public class UseInsurance
{
public static void main(String [] str) throws Exception
{
Insurance item;
char inputChar;Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println("What type of insurance do you wish?");
System.out.println("Enter 1 for Health ");
System.out.println(" 2 for Life ");
System.out.println(" 3 for Auto ");
inputChar = keyboard.next().charAt(0);if(inputChar == '1')
item = new HealthInsurance(3233,200,2400);else if(inputChar == '2')
item = new LifeInsurance(1234,100,1200);else if(inputChar == '3')
item = new AutoInsurance(3333, 50, 600, "987654321A2008B");
else
{
System.out.println("Invalid Insurance Choice");
return;
}
item.print();
}
}
The abstract Insurance class
package useInsurnace;public abstract class Insurance implements Print

{
n = PolicyNumber;
b = MonthlyPremium;
}
public int getPolicyNumber()

}
public double getMonthlyPremium()
{
return MonthlyPremium;
}
public double getAnnualPremium()
{
return MonthlyPremium;
}
public void setPolicyNumber(int n)
{
PolicyNumber = n;
}
public void setAnnualPremium(double b)
{
MonthlyPremium = b;
}
public abstract void setMonthlyPremium(double r);}
Auto Insurance class
package useInsurnace;
import java.text.DecimalFormat;
public class AutoInsurance extends Insurance
{
private String VIN;public AutoInsurance(int n, double b, int i, String vin)
{
super(n, b);
VIN = vin;
}
public void setAnnualPremium(int i)
{
AnnualPremium = i;
}
public double getAnnualPremium()
the variables for monthly premium are hard coded and so I would just need to figure out how to get the variables to match up and then multiply the variable for monthly by 12 to get the annual. I understand the concept, but I'm working via modifying an example (quite much so), and I can't seem to follow why the instructor requires us to use the variables n and b nor how any other variables link in with the hard coded numbers.Any ideas?
If this were a forum, it would make things much easier.

ANSWER:
You only have a MonthlyPremium.
You are using the setAnnualPremium to set the MonthlyPremium.
Now whilst this is not totally wrong shouldn't you at the least be dividing the AnnualPremium by 12 to get and then set the MonthlyPremium?
Your getAnnualPremium should also multiply the MonthlyPremium by 12.Have fun.

QUESTION:
Where can I find a list online of my state's insurance laws?
State: Oklahoma
This can be any type of insurance. Specifically auto insurance claims.-
ANSWER:
Here is a list of hits under Oklahoma statutes. Why can't states make it easy to search their statutes? At least at Mass.gov, you can get to page that lets you search just the statutes, without all this nonsense about reports and proposed amendments.http://www.ok.gov/gsearch/search?q=motor+vehicle+insurance+statutes&btnG=Search&sort=%3Ddate_3AD_3AL_3Ad1&output=xml_no_dtd&Submit=Go&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&client=oklahoma&proxystylesheet=oklahoma&site=SoonerSearch

QUESTION:
Transporting people in my personal vehicle for work?
I am applying for a job that would require me to transport people in my personal vehicle to go to the store, doctors appointment, etc. How does this normally work? What type of auto insurance would I need?-
ANSWER:
In South Africa - Usually a job like that will require you to have a PDP - Public Drivers Permit/pass - if you have it your insurance installments decrease by 5%. I don't know about other countries though. Maybe you want to check that with your Insurance broker/company?

QUESTION:
proven marketing for auto & home insurance agents?
I want to open my own small agency doing life, auto, home, business, health, and many more types of insurance but I know it's going to be tough in the begining in terms of clients... I am trying to see what can I do in terms of marketing to become known and develope trust among people or community so I can run a successful business... Want to hear how you people, if any of you, started and developed a marketing that really worked .. I will appreciate every comments you will post.... thank you-
ANSWER:
Congrats on your decision to open an agency. It is difficult to start an agency because there are so many insurance agents out there. I recommend doing some passive and active marketing. It is a good idea to go out into the community and meet people. What helped me when I first started was meeting with friends, family and old business associates and asking them about their insurance needs. Some of them bought from me, some of them didn't. But almost all my friends, family and business associates helped introduce me to people who I could help.The key to success in this business, at least early on, is getting in front of as many people as possible. I have never heard of an insurance agency opening their office and having loads of customers come in off the street. The key to marketing your agency is meeting lots of people and asking them if you can help with their insurance needs.
I have some advertising campaigns as well. For me personally, I have found that they are usually not very good sources for new business. At least not right away. Every now and then I will have someone call me because they got a postcard from me or they saw my ad in a magazine. But, what I have found is that advertisements usually just keep my agency in their mind when they are thinking of switching. It hardly ever prompts a potential client to immediately give me a phone call to talk about insurance. However, I have found that advertising (passive marketing) complements my agency very well. I have been an agent for almost 2 years and I have been finding when I introduce myself in a public setting, more people have heard my name before. This definitely helps with credibility when a client is ready to take a look at their insurance options.
Good luck with your new agency! Insurance can be a great business!

Proven marketing for auto & home insurance agents?

Want to hear how you people, if any of you, started and developed a marketing that really worked .. I will appreciate every comments you will post.... thank you-
ANSWER:
I'm not in your field, but there are generally three approaches to marketing to people about necessary items:1) Gentle fear-mongering with an upbeat resolution. i.e. "the thing we feared most happened or almost happened, but this company cared and was immediately there for us and now we're fine." Putting a human face on something rarely fails. Some marketers call this Rule #1.
2) Having a likable agent represent that company. People sometimes see a company as uncaring and only there to make money. When they see a nice person instead of a company, that becomes the company in their eyes.
3) People often wonder why annoying commercial campaigns are so successful. They think "who could possibly like this commercial?" They don't realize that the *point* is to make viewers hate the commercial. They will notice it a lot more and remember the advertisers, and while the annoyance fades the name remains in their mind. This works a lot more often that people would think.
Other things I can suggest: A quick punchy catch phrase and/or jingle, so the association slips into people's minds more quickly. Same for a simple original logo. Many college students doing graphic arts do fantastic work and don't cost much because they're doing it for experience it and to build their resume. Also, "viral marketing" is free and reaches a younger demographic. Advice on viral marketing is also available for free from a bunch of internet sources. Finally, a decent website is essential. More and more people are preferring to work with a web page instead of a person.
Although the economy is quite slow, people are getting more skeptical about large companies, and this may be a good sign for smaller businesses.
GOOD LUCK!

QUESTION:
I cannot find what is the definition for 'better' auto insurance coverage level. Can someone help me with this?
I need to know what is the meaning of one of the types of car insurance coverage which is "better"-
ANSWER:
Yes, a local - to you - agent, can help you define state specific terms. Some states, the state insurance department website will have a "buyer's guide" to help explain how insurance works in YOUR state.Coverage is highly state specific, and you obviously need someone in YOUR state - which you didn't mention - to give you help with this. Call a local agent.

QUESTION:
Can I pay insurance on my liscence rather than vehicle by vehicle basis?
So right now i am paying auto insurance on a single vehicle, and i want to purchase a second vehicle which would be used maybe 4-8 times a month. My insurance agent (state farm) says i would have to pay insurance on both vehicles seperatly, something i financially dont want to do...i dont want to pay even just the minimum on a vehicle that is not going to be my primary driver. (It is not a "classic" otherwise i would just get the carshow exemption)I have heard from several sources but havnt been able to confim, that there is a type of auto insurance where you pay the premiums to insure your liscence (rather than individual vehicles), leaving you free to drive any vehicle that is titled to you. Is this true? and if so how can i get it?!
-
ANSWER:
I've never heard of any insurance like that.You should get a multiple vehicle discount & you don't have to have full coverage on it.

QUESTION:
How to shop for this insurance bundled?
I am not happy with my current agent and would like to shop for new. I need 3 types of insurance: 1 - a home I own in another state that I currently rent out. 2 - renters insurance for my current residence. 3 - auto insurance. The agents I have contacted have an easy enough time with my auto and renters, but when it comes to including my home in another state, they say they can't help me. I'd like one agent, one company. Any suggestions?-
ANSWER:
You're going to need a LARGE agency, maybe a VERY large one, that has multiple branches, and multiple licenses in multiple states. Most likely, it will be an independent agency.The best short cut, is to call national carriers, ask if they write in both states, and then ask for a local agent. But if your "other state" is a high risk state, like Florida or Louisiana, you're probably going to have an easier time finding an agent in THAT state, who might have a license in YOUR state.
Maybe you should repost, and tell everyone WHICH two states you're looking for.

QUESTION:
Can I get Iowa and Colorado insurance policies bundled?
I am not happy with my current agent and would like to shop for new. I need 3 types of insurance: 1 - a home I own in another state (Iowa) that I currently rent out. 2 - renters insurance for my current residence (Colorado). 3 - auto insurance (Colorado). The agents I have contacted have an easy enough time with my auto and renters, but when it comes to including my home in another state, they say they can't help me. I'd like one agent, one company. Any suggestions?-
ANSWER:
Ah, those are easy states!So what you want to do, is contact a LARGE carrier - Travelers comes immediately to mind - and ask them if they have any agents licensed in both Colorado and Iowa.
Alternatively, you can call the insurance company that CURRENTLY writes your business, and ask them if they have any OTHER agents, currently licensed in both states, that can take over your account with a broker of record letter.
MOST multi licensed agencies aren't going to write personal lines. I checked with the one I'm familiar with, and they aren't licensed in Iowa. Depending on where you live, it's likely that the agent won't be local to you, but you SHOULD be able to find one - maybe by asking the agents who cannot do it, if they know any larger brokerage in the area, that might be able to do it.

QUESTION:
I am an active CA real estate Broker who just passed the CA insurance test and am awaiting my license.?
I want to start selling various types of insurance (auto, home, commercial, worker's comp. etc) as a broker. I don't want to do the 9-5 with say State Farm or such, but want to start selling as an independant Broker. I have already sent in my bond. Where can I go to learn the business? I am active in real estate, which is why I don't want to be locked into a 9-5 with anyone. Any suggestions?
FTH - thanks for the post. Actually, the insurance school I attended said that the difference between an insurance agent and an insurance broker is that the agent represents the insurance company and the broker represents the client. Also, that agents need appointments - and brokers do not. They can, but it's not necessary.-
ANSWER:
Hands on is really the best. If you don't want to do that, I would suggest taking as many continuing ed/ training classes as possible. Also, it is probably best to focus on one type of policy. If you are selling homes, focus on homeowners. The field is very vast and there are so many laws and rules. You don't want to put yourself in a situation of being uninformed and getting and Errors & Omissions claim against you.
