Car insurance for college students can be very expensive, especially if they are planning on driving a relatively new car and want full coverage. College students are usually between the ages of 18 and 22, which is a time when the insurance premiums are nearly at their highest. If you want to learn how to get very cheap car insurance, you need to learn what you can do to cheapen up the policy so that you are not paying for things that you do not need and are only paying for what you do need with regard to your insurance.
The first thing that you need to learn when you are looking for car insurance for college students is that the car can be registered under the name of the parent if the student is commuting to college. This means that if the student goes back and forth to college from home and is not living at school, they may be able to get very cheap car insurance by riding on the policy of their parents. However, this does put parents at a liability risk, so it is best to get the most coverage possible for the student if this is the case. In the case of the student who lives at home, very cheap car insurance can be obtained by having the student as a secondary driver on the car instead of just having the car in their own name.
Car insurance for college students also depends a great deal on grade point averages. Students who are looking for very cheap car insurance should be advised that the better their grades, the better their premium will be. If they are looking for a way to save money on their car insurance premium and get very cheap car insurance, then they should strive for a B average in their grades. Car insurance for college students often offers a discount for those with good grades.
The car insurance for college students will be based upon where the car is located as well. If the student is only using the car for college purposes and lives in a college town, this may figure into the premium and enable them to obtain very cheap car insurance. Also, if the car is a later model car and not worth much money, it may be a better idea for the student to only obtain liability coverage instead of full coverage on the vehicle as this can save them a substantial amount of money when it comes to their car insurance premiums.
There are many factors that figure into car insurance for college students. The deductible that is paid out of pocket, the type of coverage that is offered and the grade point average of the student as well as the town where the student is going to college and the distance they travel will all figure into the cost of the car insurance for college students. Those who look around online can find very cheap car insurance that will fit their college budgets.

i live in florida (miami)is there anyone that can give me a legit site that provides me car insurance for the cheapest price possible?

iMTB are you advertising or are you for real?-
ANSWER:
There is never insurance that is next to nothing. Do not buy anything on line. Call some local agents and get some quotes.Ask for all the discounts they offer, ask them to list each one and ask how to get each discount they offer. It just like Costco, the more insurance you have with one company the more discounts you get.
Ask for discounts, discounts, discounts. It is just like using coupons.

QUESTION:
Are there any cheap car insurers for older cars?
I am a 38 yr old woman who has held a license for 20 yrs but has not driven for about 10 yrs. Therefor i have no NCB (No claims bonus) which i can use as it needs to be current or expired for no more than 2 yrs.
I have bought a very cheap car for about £300.00 and have looked at insurance but the cheapest so far is around £600.00 which i simply cannot afford. If i could afford to pay that amount i would have obviously bought a car that was worth much more but unfortunately at the moment a cheap car is all we can get.
We have been desperate to get a car as i am in a new relationship and my partner has a 13 yr old son who we want to take to lots of lovely places over the summer holidays for some fun. It seems that we will not be able to do it as the insurers are penalising me and im sure lots of other drivers who are sensible drivers but have just not driven in a while for many different reasons - I think this is very wrong!
I cant feasibly pay £600.00 for a car that isnt even worth quite half of that - its lydicrous!! Please can someone help me by pointing me in the direction of a cheap insurer who is prepared to insure for the minimum amount.
I have read about pay as you go car insurance but dont really know if it is a good option although we ont be doing many miles so i dont know. If anyone has used pay as u go car insurance could u tell me if it is any good please.
I hope anybody reading this can help me with the cheapest insurance possible as i am totally deflated at the moment as it has taken us ages to save up enough for the car and tax and what we thought the insurance would be ( we saved another 300.00 for insurance as i thought it would be as much as the car roughly).
Thankyou ever so much.
Jane.-
ANSWER:
£600 for someone with no NCB is a good price. The value of the car you drive is irrelevant, the cost is based on the risk involved.
Do a site search and see what new drivers have to pay for a year's insurance!

QUESTION:
cheap car insurance in england for 17 year olds ?
who is the best company to go by for cheap car insurance for young drivers ? i heard quinn was the best, but theyve recently gone bust so there no longer insuring. So i need a different company that wont extort me ! lol...so yeah, any websites, or company names or anything will be very helpful !.....thanks !-
ANSWER:
Since Quinn, who appeared to like doing teen car insurance, have been prevented from selling any new policies, young drivers insurance has gone through the roof.
It is now common on here to see teens being asked for £4000 a year for a very small cheap car - it is down to the potential damage to others cars and property and the fact that 1 in 4 will have an accident in year 1.Anything under £2000 a year for a 1.2 litre car will be a result.
There are no magic companies, you have to shop around like everyone else.
I believe it is a matter of time before teens are priced right out of motoring or all the companies just stop doing it as they don't have to after all.
When I was 17 some 31 years ago even though working full time I could not afford to run a car and still have some cash left to have fun with so a small motorbike was the norm for me and my mates - I reckon that is coming back too.

can you register and buy a (cheap) car with no license or insurance?
I want to know if i can register a very cheap car thats around 2,000 tops at a used car lot and buy it with no problems. What problems will i face isnt it easyier to get a cheap car like this then at a actual new dealer i have no license or insurance do i pick a dealer with in house financing the only thing they will most likely ask for is it to get registered can i do that im paying half down.?im 21 im getting my license in 2 weeks (and no i cant wait)-
ANSWER:
Ok well good news and bad news.
You can buy a car with out a license that’s fine.
You can register a car without a license also fine.
However, in most states you can not buy insurance without a license.
And, you can’t register a car without insurance.
And, you can’t have a loan with out insurance.
So what you have to do is have a close friend or family members name put on the title WITH yours. Then have them get insurance on it for now and you pay for it and register it in both names. Until you can get a license and switch everything over to just your name.
Good luck.

I'm a 16 year old student and i've noticed that car insurance is very expensive. Whats the cheapest insurance i can get, that covers a lot of situations?
I live in Texas with out any tickets. I'm barely getting my license. I wont be able to drive until i get insurance.-
ANSWER:
Insurance is very individually based and is based on factors such as location, and type of car. Because of this a company that gives me cheap insurance may offer you very expensive insurance. The best thing for you to do would be to get an online insurance quote at http://www.auto-insurance-knowledge.com/24-hour-insurance-quote-auto.html
This will compare all companies in your location and find out which companies offer you the best prices.
Hope that helps, but be warned it will be expensive.

What company offers a good affordable rate for car insurance in the state of Maryland?
I'm just moving out of Virginia into Maryland and I am very overwhelmed by the high premiums that I will have to pay oppose to the lower premiums that I was paying for 2 cars in Virginia.Does anyone know a good cheap car insurance company?
Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
Maryland has VERY high rates, if you're looking for something to compare to the VA rates . . you're not going to FIND it. There are just more losses, more traffic, and more lawsuits, that's all there is to it.Your best bet is to go to one or two independent agents, ask them to get you 4-5 quotes EACH, and compare that way. But they're ALL going to be in the same ball park.

QUESTION:
Does anyone know a cheap car insurance company?
Im About to Turn 17 and am Male,, I need to know if anyone knows of a cheap car insurance company, I have a 2002 Citroen Saxo VTR, I live in Dudley,UK
Preferably i would like to pay less than £3000 (i am only a student)
Preferably i would like to go in my name but i do also have the option to go in my 44year old dads name.
If anyone could get back to me on this i would be very greatefulp.s -- I have tried all of the comparison sites and have only found 1insurance company cheaper than £3k
Gett Back to me please
Thank You xx
i forgot to mention the saxo is a 1.6 1587cc
sorry x-
ANSWER:
£3000 is Ok considering the car and your age. There are NO cheap insurance companies.
You've done the right thing trying the comparison sites. Just keep looking at adverts etc. Some companies don't use the comparison sites.
Try phoning your local broker. If they think they will get your business they will offer loads of free advice.
To keep the price down:
Garage the car overnight.
Do few miles (less than 8000 a year is cheaper than over 12000)
Make sure the car is standard.
Pay a larger excess (but beware you will have to pay this in event of a claim)
Go Third party if you are desperate.
Move to a cheaper area(!)
Also, some people pay more because of their jobs. Find out what jobs are cheapest and see if you can twist the description of your job. (If you drive around with multi million pound footballers as passengers you will pay more than if you are a lollipop lady. I believe doctors have higher premiums than say, an office worker.)

QUESTION:
Young Driver's Car insurance?
I am 18 years old and have just passed my driving test. I'm looking at buying a peugeot 206 1.1 litre petrol car. The problem I'm having is that insurance is very expensive. My cheapest quote is £2000 a year. I just wondered if anybody knows of any cheap car insurance companies that could beat this quote?I've tried price comparison sites such as gocompare and they are all more expensive
-
ANSWER:
£2000 is reasonable for insurance for an inexperienced driver aged under 25, and I think you will struggle to find it cheaper. When you are in that age group, you are in a high risk category as far as claims go. Lots of UK insurers have now stopped insuring drivers under 25, and those that still do insure them are charging realistic prices to cover the cost of the claims they make, so that the costs are not passed on to older more experienced drivers. As for putting the insurance in your parents name, if you are the main user, I would not advise that. Have a look at 'fronting' on the Internet. Fronting is putting the insurance in someone else's name to get cheaper insurance. I work for an insurer and I can assure you that loads of young drivers get caught fronting. We have to void their insurance, and leave them to foot the bill for any claims you make, including the legal costs and the injury fees which can be expensive. You don't want to start your life heavily in debt. Furthermore, both yourself and your parents would be taken to court charged with obtaining an insurance policy by deception, which carries the same penalties as fraud, including a possible prison sentence. You would also be blacklisted on a database which would stop you getting insurance in the future, and a criminal record for fraud would stop you getting a job. You would also not build up any no claims discount if it is not in your name, so even if you did get away with it, you would eventually have to start from scratch again.
As for lying about your age, you may get away with it initially, but as soon as you need to claim, the first thing an insurer will do is ask for a copy of your licence and they will check it's validity with the DVLA. If it comes to light that you have lied to them, the same thing will happen.
There is only one way to get the price down. That is to drive legally for a few years, and build up some no claims discount. Insurers know all the scams and employ ex-police detectives on anti-fraud units to spot those responsible for committing them.

QUESTION:
Car Insurance different address than car registered address?
Hi,
I have insured my car on my friend's address because his postcode turns out to be very cheap for my premiums. My car and Driving Licence are registered on my home address but when I buy insurance on my home address it goes double. Do you think insuring my car on different address is wrong? What if I get my car registered on to my friends address same as my insurance policy? Would that be safe and legal? Please help me in clearing the confusion and doubt.-
ANSWER:
The insurance premium is higher in your postcode for the simple reason that there are a higher number of claims emanating from that area. When you fill in a proposal form it asks you where the vehicle will be garaged overnight. If you register the car using your friends address you will also be committing fraud as the address on the V5 must be that of the registered keeper and that is not your address.

QUESTION:
Cheap car insurance?
I've just decided to restart my lessons after 4 months of being away from them - last failed my test by one minor at the very end of the test was absolutely gutted. I am just about to turn 18 years old and am looking for insurance on my dads Suzuki Baleno. The cheapest I have found so far is £446.60 for fully comp per year with CIS Insurance which I know would be considered cheap, but is there any cheaper?-
ANSWER:
The only way insurers can offer 'cheap' insurance is by reducing the level and quality of cover. Sadly this sometimes results in claims which appear to be perfectly valid being declined owing to the small print. Less payouts = more profits = lower premiums.
I have been with CIS for about 40 years. I haven't claimed a lot but when I have they have been excellent and dealt quickly with the matter. Also you can talk to them on the phone, which is answered promptly. Try that with a cheapie firm, you'll be lucky to get through (unless it's the sales line).
Stick with CIS you can't go wrong.

I heard that insurance is very cheap for cars that are 25 years or older. I heard suggestions of about a few hundred per year. Is that true?
I heard that insurance is very cheap for cars that are 25 years or older. I heard suggestions of about a few hundred per year. Is that true? Also, the value of the car is not significantly low. I would like to rebuild an old car to the value of about -15k
-
ANSWER:
Yes. Sort of. It isn't really a discount, it is your option not to carry the unnecessary coverage. In which case, if your car has virtually no value, there is no reason to carry comprehensive and collision coverage, which is the part of the insurance that covers your own car being fixed if you have an accident. Even if you paid for it, but your car for example is worth only 0, you will not recover more than that. But you do need liability coverage, to cover someone elses vehicle if you cause an accident. The liability is required in some, if not all states. If your car will have more value than another one of the same make and model because of modifications that you made and so forth, you have to notify your company so that you can be charged accordingly.

QUESTION:
I'm 17,passed my car test.have a 1litre vauxhall corsa 3dr,wondered if ne1 knows of cheap insurance companies?
Hello, I'm 17 years old, i have just passed my car test. I have a 1litre vauxhall corsa, 3doors, which is meant to be a very low insurance group, I just wondered if anyone knows of a cheap insurance company? Or any good ways of getting cheap insurance for a couple of years until I get a full time job - like named driver or something? The best quote i have so far is £2100 for a year. Thanks.-
ANSWER:
£2100 is a very good quote. I would suggest going onto www.confused.com typing in your details and having a look at who is cheapest. If you haven't passed your test yet, just put your date of birth 6 months before current date and say you have passed today, Ie, 1/6/93 and that you have passed 1/1/2011.
Try and avoid putting student as your main occupation, the quote may go up a couple hundred if you do. Add your parents as named drivers and fiddle around with the settings until you get the lowest.
Get a quote for third party fire and theft instead of comprehensive.
My second year quote is £700 and first year was same ass yours, just make sure you don't crash or insurance will go through the roof.People who are saying "You can't get cheap car insurance for 17 year olds DUHHH" seriously needs to start using some common sense, of course we are not asking how to get it for pennys, we are asking for the CHEAPEST!

QUESTION:
Is this a Car Insurance Scam?
Hi everybody, ive recently encountered a website which specializes in cheap insurance for 17-23 year olds. And as the current insurance market is scaring off younger drivers with massive premiums. I was wondering if this was a scam. They provide thier full address and contact numbers. They say that the insurance is very cheap (£750 Per Year) because they 'cut out the middle man' and they do not offer courtesy cars, allowing you to drive 3rd party vechiles and collecting NCB's. I do not care as long as I am covered. Any car up to 3Litres they say. I even said I would bring the Police with me to validate all documents. And they agreed. Plus I am 18. What are you views, any experiance?
*Your, sorry.
Insurance: http://17-mr.insurance.officelive.com/default.aspx
I have taken this up with the FSA-
ANSWER:
They don't cut out the middle man, they are a middle man. They're an insurance intermediary, apparently, that has a program with an insurance company, apparently. However any company that won't list an address on their website just screams scam. They may provide a legal policy but in terms of coverage it could be a load of garbage (on their site it says you have report an accident within 48 hours to them or else they won't respond, so already I don't see their appeal assuming they're legit). Plus their website is pretty cheap looking. However if you "do not care as long as I am covered" then roll the dice and see what happens. The police won't review your documents as they have better things to do, plus it's not like they're going to launch an investigation to make sure everything is on the up and up unless you make an allegation of fraud.

QUESTION:
What cars have cheap insurance for new drivers?
I have only been driving since january this year, i currently own a triumph spitfire that i have been restoring for the last two years, it is in really nice condition now and want something new, the insurance was only £756 for the first year which i was very pleased about.I want to sell my car an buy another convertible, but what cars have cheap insurance? i am looking into the the possibility of another classic or just a more modern car. all suggestions welcome.
Thank you in advance
-
ANSWER:
Classic cover tends to be cheaper.
If it is a modern car then factors such as its insurance group, value, where you live, your occupation and where it is kept overnight all go together to produce the premium. So small engine, over 5 years old, kept off road at night is best.

QUESTION:
Question about car insurance and city location! Odds of being caught!?
Let's say you lived in a small town.....for many years....and had low, cheap car insurance for a long while. But then you packed up and moved to the city----where insurance goes up very mucho based on demographics and population! However, the DMV still has your old "lil town" address, which doesnt require a smog check....(which IS required in the new city).........would it be wrong to lie to the DMV and say that you still llived in the small town to get cheaper insurance and avoid smog check? Has anyone experienced this? Just curious.-
ANSWER:
Yes it would be wrong and it would be illegal and in the case of an accident you would likely find that they would not pay. The odds of being caught are very high. Don't even think about making this foolish decision.

QUESTION:
about coupe car insurance.?
I'm thinking of buying an coupe car. People say coupe car have very high insurance fee. Do you know where to check each car's insurance price? I also heard different age has different price, and older the cheaper. So if we have insurance this coupe as mom who is 50 year old would it be cheaper than me who is 18 year old? how much does it get cheaper if I never get in accident or get violation ticket? If you can, can you recommend me cheap coup car?
Thank you.-
ANSWER:
the highest rated driver (you, because of your age) will be rated as the driver of the vehicle. If your mother has a more expensive vehicle than the one you want to purchase, you would be rated as the driver, even if you would never drive it. Highest rated driver with highest rated vehicle.

QUESTION:
The other party's lawyer asked my car insurance company to disclose my coverage. Should I do this?
I had a car accident at local cross-section couple of month ago and it was my fault. Both cars were damaged. The other party's car was very old cheap car but not sure how much she was injured (one driver). However, she didn't seem to be seriously injured at that time but who knows. We both took ambulance to the local emergency room but I walked away in 30min. I think she did too. Anyway, I got a letter yesterday that the other party's lawyer sent my insurance firm to disclose my coverage. I have never had this experience. My insurance firm sent me a letter to see if I want to disclose my coverage (they need my permission to disclose my coverage) I am not sure if I need to disclose my coverage then the other party might use my coverage to take more money. My friend told me not to disclose my coverage but I don't know what the best option would be to me.
Anyway can you give me advice if I need to disclose or not? My insurance firm is a nationally known company and I have a reasonably good coverage but I am a bit worried about this.Thank you for your advice.
-
ANSWER:
Discuss your concerns with your claims adjuster. The other party wants to know how much coverage you have available. This by no means entitles them to your policy limits. The can sue for what ever they want to, but that does not mean they will recover for the amount claimed. There is really no harm in disclosing your limits. Your insurance company is not going to settle for anything other than what they feel reasonable. At some point, if the other party actually files suit for damages which exceed your policy limits, your insurance company will send you "an excess exposure" letter anyway.
In NY and MA, the insurance company has to disclose the limits, and they do not need permission from their insured. Other than greed, the attorney just wants to know if they have to file an Under insured Motorist claim for their client.
